Greeting of the Programming Committee of the
93rd DKG Annual Meeting &
Symposium on High-Performance Ceramics 2018
The most important ceramics conference in Germany.
Dear members and friends of the DKG,
dear specialist colleagues,
when looking into the future, there is much talk about digitalization and industry 4.0.
Regarding materials science, what does this mean? Which changes are we likely to face in ceramics? How will the manufacturing of components change in the future? In what way are we going to follow the life cycle of materials, to optimize production processes and to minimize raw material consumption? How can we close loops in an optimized way and how can we reduce power consumption?
Another important question pertains to the current restructuring of energy supplies. Is the turnaround in energy policy going to be successful? And what are the material requirements? In this context, how can the ceramic industry contribute and how will we manufacture the required components and systems?
The 93rd DKG Annual Meeting provides a prime opportunity to discuss all of these questions, together with the Symposium for High-Performance Ceramics. It will take place from April 10 to 13, 2018, in cooperation with the Munich tradefair „Messe München“.
We are planning to combine our annual specialist highlight with the ceramitec 2018, the leading international ceramic event. The merger of the meetings provides the unique possibility of inspiring a broad international audience for our topics. Accordingly, we will create an attractive and eventful programme by using the exhibition forum for some of our event modules and by offering topic-related guided tours of the exhibition halls.
We are most happy to announce Switzerland as our partner country – a country which has been closely linked to the DKG for many years and which will enrich the program by contributing numerous lectures.
We want to issue a special invitation to young scientists, students and postgraduates to present the results of their qualification works and their current projects. With the Walter Hennecke Lecture Competition in the exhibition forum and the award ceremony for the best posters, we are creating an attractive framework for those young talents.
Please save the date - April 10 to 13, 2018 – in order to attend the 93rd DKG Annual Meeting and the Symposium for High-Performance Ceramics, in combination with the ceramitec 2018!
We look forward to meeting you in Munich!
